Meat drainers were made to sit into the recess at the bottom of a large meat plate to allow the juices to drain away from the joint of meat. They are highly collectible and look fantastic displayed either on a dresser or shelf, or arranged on a wall. This one was made by Davenport in around 1820 and is decorated with their beautiful Chinoiserie Ruins pattern.
Condition: The drainer has a restored crack in the upper right quarter. There are no other chips or cracks. The glaze is in good condition with no crazing.
Dimensions: 31.8cm long, 20cm wide and 2cm deep.
