An early 19th century strongbox, possibly a sea chest or campaign chest, constructed from elm and pine and bound with iron, with carrying handles at each side and an iron latch…

Condition: There are a few iron straps missing, one on each side and one on the back. There are some screws that hold the ironwork on missing. The ironwork is generally a little corroded. It looks as though there would have been a lift out tray inside the box originally, which is no longer present. Overall good condition with the wood having a lovely colour and patina, and the box still very strong. A very attractive object.
