Our first ‘new’ product for Antique & Unique Studio (in that it is not an antique or vintage item, but newly made) is this ‘Tiny Leaves’ mirror. I have decorated this little oak mirror frame with a freehand design using artists acrylic paint in Sap Green and Raw Sienna. The whole thing has then been given several coats of matte finish lacquer to protect the timber and the paint finish.
I made the oak frame for a project at home a while ago then never used it, so decided to decorate it rather than waste it. After a bit of doodling I came up with this idea. It isn’t planned at all - I just started at each corner and made it up as I went along! It was time consuming to do with a very small paintbrush, but I found it relaxing and am happy with how it turned out.
I’m planning to make more of these when time allows, in different sizes and colour-ways. They could also be used as picture frames. If you would like one making to a specific size please get in touch for a quote.
