The latest Antique and Unique Studio piece is this vintage ladderback chair. It has a low seat so may have been intended as a fireside chair (the low seat encourages you to stretch your feet out towards the warmth of the fire). I have painted it in Annie Sloan ‘Capability Green’, which is a lovely vibrant apple green, with a folk art style design in a variety of colours, including ‘Paprika Red’, ‘Amsterdam Green’ and ‘Jaipur Pink’. The paint was applied thickly initially and I then rubbed it back and finished it with a dark wax for a subtle worn and aged appearance.
I believe the chair dates from around the 1970’s.
Condition: There is a small amount of movement in the frame, but it is solid and totally useable. The rush seat is a little worn and slightly discoloured in places in accordance with age and use, but has plenty of life left in it and is comfortable to sit in.
