This mirror came from a local property. I liked the shape and the bobbin detail, but it was very dark brown and not a very nice finish, so I decided some paint would perk it up. I chose Annie Sloan ‘Paprika Red’ as I always think that a small splash of red really brings a room together. The slender frame of the mirror means that the bright colour isn’t overwhelming. I finished it with a lightly applied dark wax, which has settled into the carved details, and prevents it looking too ‘new’.

Condition: The mirror plate has some very small age spots but is in good condition with a nice bevelled edge. The frame has been newly painted as detailed above - a couple of the bobbin details had been damaged prior to painting but it is quite hard to see it now.
